Ondskapt - The One - Somrak - Alkerdeel - Funus
The underground Black Metal event brought an internation line up on the stage of a well filled main hall of Willemeen. The floor was opened by the young Dutch band Funus, followed by Belgian Alkerdeel. Both bands play BM with strong psychedelic influences. Somrak from Slovenia surprised us with a strong Dutch debut: after a few songs the music got a hold on us and J.D.'s convincing stage performance added to the maligne, poisonous atmosphere that we value so much in Black Metal. To us the climax was The One: an amazing 2-men ritual, with drums , vocals and heavily distorted guitars with lots of pedals , shrouded in an always red lit thick blanket of mist. This British act around a Greek/Dutch frontman is - quite rigtly - a rising star in the BM underground scene. The Swedish headliner Ondskapt has seen better days. Despite the energetic play of their guitar and bass players, their frontman - who seemed to have copied the ways of his fellow country man, Niklas Kvarforth - could not rouse the audience.
