XIV SWR Metalfest

Barroselas, Portugal, April 29 - May 1, 2011

In the North Portugese countyside, where live is at leasure and people are friendly, the weather is fine and beer is good and cheap, the annual underground metal festival SWR takes place. Three days of excellent bands from all over the world play on two stages in a huge tent. Outside the tent there are numerous bars and food stands. Here the true metalhead is amongst friends and can enjoy the spirit of metal close to nature.

Friday, the first evening, started with some good bands from Portugal. Cough from West Virginia USA impressed us with their professional sound. They are recently touring Europe and will visit Venlo (NL) shortly: do not miss them! Two very different bands from Canada played on the main stage: Menace Ruine with electronic ambient black metal that took us to higher spheres and Voivod who brougth us down to earth again with their heavy metal.
