Saturday brought sunshine, but after three days of stumbling around in the mud the audience was exhausted by the evening. We skipped the afternoon program and returned for Manegarm and Aura Noir. The latter is the band of Apollyon, Immortal’s current bass player, Blasphemer (ex-Mayhem) and Aggressor (ex-Satyricon). The latter appeared on stage with crutches, and sang "Sons of hades", for the first time after 5 years as a surprise to both bandmembers and the audience. This less known Norwegian blackend trash metal band showed the experience of the great masters and their music sounded very strong.
After having seen Necrophagist, Napalm Death and Suffocation we could hardly stand on our feet anymore. So when George Fisher, the front man of tonight’s headliner Cannibal Corpse complained “this is death metal but you don’t have to act dead!” we understood how everybody else felt. CC gave a great show as always, playing the same set list of horror songs as the week before in Wacken (see there). They played for an audience of loyal fans, who stayed until the bitter end of three days of great music under harsh conditions. This band is so good! They are FAST in everything: playing the guitar, the bass and most of all… head banging.
